Scotty McCreery is setting new chart records with his debut album.  'Clear As Day' is atop the Billboard 200, making him the first country star to land at #1 on the chart with their debut CD.  Scotty is also the youngest man at #1.  He just turned 18 four days ago.  The CD sold over 195 thousand copies, for the biggest first week sales for an 'Idol' winner since David Cook in 2008.  Scotty is also the first 'Idol' winner to debut at #1 since Suben Studdard in 2003.  Carrie Underwood's 2006 debut topped the country charts, but only made it to #2 on the Billboard 200.   Way to go Scotty!

American Idol's Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina made their Grand Ole Opry debuts during CMA Fest.  Lauren took the stage first and admitted it was an emotional moment for her.  She opened with LeAnn Rimes' "Blue." 

Scotty shared his gratitude and amazement when it was his turn to take the stage.  He called it "such an honor" to be on the show and admitted his life has changed so much in such a short time.  And he gave all the credit to his fans.  Both Scotty and Lauren say it was night they will never forget.

After a record-setting 122.4 million votes, it was country crooner Scotty McCreery who was named the winner of 'American Idol'.

The 17-year-old from Garner, NC, beat out 16-year-old Lauren Alaina to become the youngest 'American Idol' winner ever. He's also the fourth-consecutive male to win the reality-competition series, following David Cook, Kris Allen and Lee DeWyze. (The last female to win 'American Idol' was Jordin Sparks, in 2007.)

Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina will give us a country filled night on American Idol.  They'll both sing new songs that will be officially released Thursday, a day after the winner is announced.  The songs will also be available on iTunes Tuesday night after Idol airs.  Scotty will sing "Love You This Big" and Lauren's song is called "Like My Mother Does."  Each will sing two other songs, a favorite from the season and one chosen for them.  Idol winner Carrie Underwood picked Lauren's song and Scotty choice came from George Strait.
