Happy New Year! It's a new year, 2013, and as we approached the midnight hour last night many thoughts were already turning to it and wondering what would the next 12 months bring. You may have been at a party, watching the celebrations on TV or--in my case--been fast asleep having seen my fair share of new years already. What about 2013?
Ringing in the new year won't be the same tonight without Dick Clark, the creator of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" which first aired in the 1970s. Every New Year's Eve, the TV in the Greg "Splashin'" McShea household was tuned to that show, and Dick Clark never let us down. Even after his stroke a few years back, he courageously continued with help from Ryan Seacrest. Tonight, ABC pays tribute to Dick Clark at 8:00 p.m. with "New Year's Rockin' Eve Celebrates Dick Clark".

You're invited to stop by today during Big Frog 104's live broadcast at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Yours truly, Greg "Splashin'" McShea will be on the air and sharing with you all of the exciting events and promotions going on at Turning Stone later tonight and into the new year.
It may not be Times Square but the city of Oneonta does it up big when it comes to New Year's Eve. "First Night Oneonta", an annual celebration of the arts, will kick off at 4 this afternoon with music, children's activities and a big fireworks display all designed to bring in the New Year in a safe, festive and alcohol free style. If you've never been to a "First Night " celebration before here's what to expect.
New Year's Eve may be party time for most of us but for our favorite country performers it's also another night of putting on a show. many of our favorites will be ringing in the new year on stage. Taste of Country reports that Jason Aldean will be in LA while Taylor Swift watches the ball drop in Times Square, both being a part of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" on ABC. Check out some of the other lucky New Year's venues.
Have you ever been to Times Square in New York City to see the ball drop on New Year's Eve? Now you can see it from the comfort of your own home with several live webcams. You can even watch festivities in Florida, New Orleans, Las Vegas or even St Croix and Ireland.
Bet you didn't realize that other things drop besides the ball depending on where you live in the country and some objects are even raised! Here's a comprehensive (big word for looooong) list of some of the most interesting and usually bizarre objects by state that are annual New Year's Eve icons for the locals there, and most are anything BUT a ball!
The Band Perry performed their smash crossover hit ‘If I Die Young,’ which truly put the threesome on the map, at Dick Clark’s big party last night (Dec. 31). The trio soared through the song on ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.’ The event took place in both New York and Hollywood, with the Bant Perry’s performance airing from the West Coast.
Are you looking for plans this New Years? I was debating going out, but honestly I think it’d be much safer at home relaxing with the girlfriend opposed to sitting at a crowded bar. Also to not sound like an old man, it’s also much cheaper. Our friends o
