When I'm at the gym Sunday mornings the twelve TV screens are usually filled with infomercials, some good, some embarrassingly bad. MSN has come up with a list of some of the best--or worst depending on your viewpoint--television infomercials. How many of these have you seen?
Every Sunday morning at the gym I am faced with 20-30 TV monitors featuring the usual Sunday morning lineup of news programs, religious services and--my favorite--infomercials. The infomercials range from exercise programs to get rich quick schemes to old TV show DVD's. Here are a few of my favorites.
So, I must admit, I love watching infomercials. No, not because of the products being sold. I like to watch the actors in the infomercials making very easy tasks look very difficult. Watch this "best of" video of the world's easiest tasks looking like the most difficult tasks ever. Don Lapre the self-proclaimed "King of Infomercials" has been indicted. According to the Arizona Republic Lapre, 41, has been charged with 41 counts of conspiracy, mail and wire fraud and money laundering. He has been accused of bilking over 200, 000 people out of some $52 million through his company "The Greatest Vitamin in the World" offering a number of get-rich quick schemes.
