Indianapolis Woman Pleads Guilty to Fraudulent Indiana State Fair Claims

Stephanie Murry of Indianapolis, Indiana has pleaded guilty to forgery and perjury charges after fraudulently filing a claim with the State Fair Remembrance Fund and the Indiana Tort Claim Fund. The monetary relief aids were in place for victims of last year’s tragic Indiana State Fair stage collapse, which claimed seven lives just before a Sugarland concert was scheduled to take place. Murry did not attend the show, but still tried to collect money. She is also accused of falsifying hospital records about her ‘injuries.’

Settlement Between Indiana State Fair, Stage Collapse Victims and Stage Owner Rejected

Fifty one of the 62 families with legal claims after last August’s Indiana State Fair tragedy had agreed to a settlement that would have protected the state from further legal action. The stage owner decided that wasn’t enough. Mid American Sound announced that minimum participation requirements were not met, without revealing what those requirements were.

Evidence Stolen From Indiana State Fair Stage Collapse

For the past year, attorneys have been preparing to battle over who is responsible for a stage rigging error that caused a stage to collapse at the Indiana State Fair in August, killing seven people and injuring dozens before a Sugarland concert. Unfortunately, now it will be much more difficult to reach a verdict in the case, which goes to trial on April 1, 2014. Last weekend, steel cables that were part of the stage rigging system were stolen from the warehouse where they were being stored with other wreckage from the collapse.

Sugarland Continues Tour And Keeps Memory of Lives Lost in Stage Collapse Alive [VIDEO]

Sugarland returned to the road after the tragedy at the Indiana State Fair.  They began their show in New Mexico last week by asking for a moment of silence for the lives lost in the stage collapse.

A fan posted a message on Sugarland's website after their show in Salt Lake City Saturday that read 'tribuet to the fallen and the injured before the encore was pure class.'

Indiana Governor Remembers Lives Lost and Heros in State Fair Stage Collapse [VIDEOS]

A memorial service was held to remember the 5 people killed in Saturday's stage collapse during the Sugarland show at the Indiana State Fair.  Governor Daniels spoke of the lives lost in the tragedy and the heroes who rushed to help those trapped.  He said 'there was a hero every 10 feet on Saturday.'  Check out his speech at the Indiana State Fair memorial
