If you're a night owl, you've probably caught "The Tonight Show" on NBC TV. On this day in 1954, the original late night program that started it all, "Tonight" premiered on NBC. Comic genius (in my opinion) Steve Allen was the first host, and in its 58 year history, the show has had a total of five hosts. (actually six as Jay Leno has a host stint twice).

While doing a little Internet browsing, I came across this Diet Coke and Mentos experiment video. There are two variations of the experiment. One is the put Mentos candy into a bottle of Diet Coke and watch a soda geyser erupt. The other variation, which is displayed in this video gem, is to put the candy in the soda quickly, put the cap back on the bottle and throw it at the ground--it creates a rocket-like effect. Watch what happens next.
