UPDATED 8/31 11:38 a.m. - Ilion Police say the man who was found dead inside in a home at 225 Otsego Street Tuesday afternoon died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police have identfied the man as 42-year old Stanley Johnson, who lived at 97 Grove Street in Ilion.

They say 20-year old Shai Johnson, who lived at the Otsego Street address, suffered a gunshot wound during the incident when the bullet fired by Stanely Johnson apparently traveled through his body and struck her in the leg.

She was treated at the hospital and released.

Shai Johnson is believed to be Stanley Johnson's daughter

Police say four other family members, ages 2, 15, 16 and 39, were present at the time of the shooting.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Johnson today.

The investigation is continuing.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened at 225 Otsego Street in Ilion.

Ilion Police Chief Tim Parisi says a man is dead and a woman was wounded.  Parisi says her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Police say a handgun that was believed to have been used in the shooting was found inside the home

Herkimer County District Attorney Jeff Carpenter says there were three children at home at the time of the shooting.

The names of the victims are not being released until police can notify family members.

State Police are assisting Ilion Police in their investigation.
