It's one of the most useful tools, but also one of the most dangerous.  Whether trimming a fence row or clearing a trail, chainsaws make the work hours quicker.  It's imperative that you have the right one for the job and that safety is the top priority.

Cornell Cooperative Extension's Best Chainsaw Management Practices says the top three priorities when it comes to saws is #1 pay attention, #2 take a safety course.

A graduate of the NYS Ranger School, Mike Burns is assisting with #2 by conducting a safety workshop through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County June 22 at their office State Route 5 in Herkimer.  The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and is limited to 20 participants.  The cost is just $5 for 4-H members, $10 for the entire family.  To reserve a spot or get more details call Jennifer Collins at 315-866-7920 or email jlr34@cornell.edu.
