Who loses a license plate and how does it end up on our porch?

Coming home from work one day I discovered a New York dealer plate on the steps. I assumed it had something to do with our daughter. But she didn't know anything about it. Tad Pole didn't have any idea either. So where did it come from?

Tad's theory is that it flew off someone's car and landed in our yard. But on the top step of our porch? It could have landed in the grass. There's a large yard next to Route 5. It could have even gone through a window. Landing right on the top step? That wouldn't happen again in a million years.

So if you lost a dealer plate, we have it.
