Paul Delaney of Little Falls took to GoFundMe to try and get some help covering medical costs for his wife Heidi. Heidi has been in the hospital about 4 months, and at one point, the insurance company was threatening to have her leave the hospital.

Here's what Paul wrote on the GoFundMe page:

Heidi my wife and mother of two got infected with necrotizing fasciitis ( its the flesh eating infection you hear about on tv). An infection that has a 40% fatality rate if caught quickly .it can kill 3cm of tissue an hour. It was not caught quickly with her . She went into toxic shock and was on life support for 7 days. She required numerous surgeries , one to remove infected intestinal area and install a colostomy bag and now is getting better on a daily basis . She is still in the hospital after 47 days. The medical bills are slowly coming in and they are outrageous. I have had to leave work, after 24 years at the same company,to take care of the kids , losing almost all of our income. This is my only hope at paying for the medical care she has and is receiving."

Through different updates, Paul has informed us that the first diagnosis of the flesh eating bacteria was incorrect, but that's what Doctor's started with for treating. Heidi is responding to the current treatment, and some lesions have healed up. On February 23rd she will have been in the hospital for 4 months. However, through all of this, Paul has remained brave for his family. His children are 13, and 16.

We are pretty stressed out. I made sure the kids don't know how serious this disease is. They miss their mom."

If you'd like to donate and help out with medical bills, you can donate HERE. They are adding up. Paul let us know that he recieved a medical bill last week for $221,456.21.

My wife is off life support now. There is no cure for nonuremic calciphylaxis but they are inventing one using my wife. On Wednesday February 11th ,we will have a huge meeting with all the doctors, management ,social workers and Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The doctors will try to convince the insurance company that is cheaper you keep Heidi in the hospital and continue receiving treatment, then to send her home and possibly have another infection. Heidi is responding to the treatment some lesions have healed up. Theres only been 36 known cases and only 1 person has survived. Drs went thru 5 diagnoses till they determined what it was. My wife is the 37th"
