Country Stars Who Appeared on Dick Clark’s ‘American Bandstand’ [VIDEOS]
It was definitely sad to hear of Dick Clark's passing on Wednesday. With his broadcast career beginning in Utica in the 1940s, he had done so much over the years for the entertainment world, especially in the realm of music. Clark was host on one of the best known music shows of all time 'American Bandstand,' which was on the air from 1952 to 1989--with Clark as host beginning in 1956. And, over the years the show was broadcast, many famous country stars appeared on the show.
There were hundreds of guests on American Bandstand. And, of those hundreds of guests, there were about 20 or so country stars who appeared on the show. According to Wikipedia, here are some country stars who made appearances on the long-running program:
- Glen Campbell
- Johnny Cash
- Rosanne Cash
- Roy Clark
- Patsy Cline
- Jimmy Dean
- Crystal Gayle
- Brenda Lee
- Roger Miller
- Juice Newton
- Eddie Rabbit
- Kenny Rogers
- Ray Stevens
- Tanya Tucker
- Conway Twitty
Finding videos of those performers on the show itself proved to be a very difficult task. I could not find footage of the majority of the stars performing on the show. But, I was able to find a few of the stars above being interviewed by the one and only Dick Clark.
