While many praised Carrie Underwood‘s singing in the Sound of Music TV special, just as many panned her acting. The harsh criticism isn’t bringing Carrie down, it’s lifting her up.

Kym Karath, who played Gretl Von Trapp in the original Sound of Music, was one of those who wasn’t a fan of Underwood’s acting.

Karath’s criticism wasn’t taken to kindly by Underwood fans or her peers in country music, who tweeted their support.

Criticism aside, Carrie and the TV special brought in 18.5 million viewers.
