Any day you wake up is a good day when you've been diagnosed with cancer. Saturday survivors, their caregivers, friends and family walked to celebrate life and raise money for the American Cancer Society at Camden's Relay For Life and I was honored to be the Master of Ceremonies for the event held at Manley Field.

After kicking off the 13th annual event in Camden, I walked with several cancer survivors and as each lap went by, I realized how courageous each survivor was. Hearing their stories puts your own life into perspective. The next time you want to complain about having to mow the lawn, remember Karen Newton who loved to mow her lawn but couldn't after starting chemo. Appreciate your health, it can be taken from you in a moment.

The community honored cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost. The funds raised truly make a difference in the fight against cancer. Just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year! The Camden community helped raise near $59,000.

Congrats to all the teams for having a part in helping beat cancer and those who were recognized during the event.
