Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly has cancer.  The Hall of Famer will have surgery Friday, after being diagnosed with cancer in his upper jaw. Kelly made an official announcement before his Kelly For Kids charitable foundation's annual celebrity golf tournament this morning.

'The past couple of weeks have been difficult for me," Kelly said. "Because of the nature of social media, I thought it would be best to share with everyone what has been going on with my health. Doctors have told me that my prognosis for recovery is very good. I am extremely confident in my road to recovery and plan to tackle this challenge head on, as we Kellys always do, with toughness perseverance and faith.'

Kelly was with the Bill for 11 seasons before retiring in 1996. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.

We wish Jim all the best with the surgery and our thoughts are with his family.  Luckily to cancer has not spread to the rest of his body, so hopefully doctors will catch it in time.
