It’s been a whirlwind and well-documented year for Scotty McCreery with his ‘American Idol‘ win, his No. 1 hit album ‘Clear As Day,’ his busy touring and interview schedule and the time he reserves for family and friends. He’s also going to continue to mix work with school, as he has applied to several colleges — and has just revealed he’s been accepted to East Carolina. Must be fun to fill out those tedious applications and write those corresponding essays all the while being pranked while on tour with notorious jokester Brad Paisley.
Even if you’re not a fan of either the New York Giants or the San Francisco 49ers, you should still tune into the NFC championship game on Sunday, Jan. 22, since Brad Paisley will be performing during halftime.
Yesterday (Jan. 18), country singer and new mom Jo Dee Messina, who gave birth to her second son last week, tweeted an ominous message, writing: “There’s nothing like seeing a kind face in the midst of an emergency. I’ll explain more on blog when I get home. Do somethin kind 2day.”
Garth Brooks is learning the hard way that no good deed goes unpunished. The Oklahoma native is set to appear in a courtroom in Rogers County today (Jan. 17) to face an aging lawsuit over a donation he made to a local hospital. The long-lingering suit is finally going to trial with jury selection scheduled to take place in the early part of the afternoon.
Someone better tell Taylor Swift to add a wing onto her house in order to store all of her awards, since she just added another one to her copious collection of trophies and statuettes. The singer won the Favorite Country Artist Award at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards, which were televised this evening (Jan. 11).
Drama alert! Country singer Jo Dee Messina will make an appearance on Bravo’s ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ tomorrow night, Sunday, Jan. 8, at 9 PM ET. How, where and why will Messina factor into this drama-loaded show?
Lady Antebellum‘s lovely, talented and kind-hearted Hillary Scott is doing her part to help others across the world. The singer is working in tandem with a family from Franklin, Tenn. to open a modernized orphanage in Haiti. This is a different, special and revolutionary type of orphanage, as it will be fashioned like a home that serves approximately eight children and will be headed by a mother and father. The aim is to recreate the family model for the children.
Instead of chilling out in his native Garner, N.C. for the whole holiday season, Scotty McCreery headed to the Dominican Republic for a bit to personally deliver gift boxes to needy and impoverished children. The selfless singer shared a couple pictures from his trip via Twitter … when he was able to get internet service, that is!
The Band Perry performed their smash crossover hit ‘If I Die Young,’ which truly put the threesome on the map, at Dick Clark’s big party last night (Dec. 31). The trio soared through the song on ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.’ The event took place in both New York and Hollywood, with the Bant Perry’s performance airing from the West Coast.
Reba McEntire is looking out for her fellow Oklahomans. The singer made a generous donation to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma after she learned about the organization’s Food for Kids program, which aims to provide healthy food choices to school children.
When we first met ‘American Idol‘ Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery just under a year ago, he sang Josh Turner‘s ‘Your Man’ a capella for the judges and was upstreamed to the next round. McCreery has not concealed the fact that he admires Turner and that he ultimately hopes to emulate Turner’s career. Even though Turner supports McCreery as he continues to evolve into a country superstar in his own right, he doesn’t return the admiration for McCreery’s on-the-go lifestyle right now.
