Some of the most famous battles in the American Revolutionary War took place in Upstate New York. British forces surrendered in the Battle of Saratoga and the Smithsonian Channel highlights the area in the series 'Aerial America.'

The show takes viewers on a flight to look at the Saratoga Monument and the Schuyler Farmhouse that was General Philip Schuyler's second home. It's said the house was burned by the British as they were retreating north from the battlefield (about 8 miles south of Saratoga Monument). After the war, Schuyler salvaged what he could and rebuild the farmhouse in just 29 days.
