Where To Pick Apples In Central New York

With North Star Orchards not offering you pick apples due to a poor crop this year, we double checked to make sure these locations faired better.

People love apple picking. It's the right of passage into fall that includes pumpkins, baby animal petting stations, farm products, hayrides, picnics, breathtaking scenery, and tradition.

Windy Hill Orchard located at 577 East Street in Cassville:

Open for six years now, this family oriented U-Pick apple orchard is where you and your family can create memories year after year. They provide pails & bags for U-Pick.

Pavlus Orchard located at 270 Hickory Hill Road in Fort Plain:

They offer 13 different varieties of apples. On the weekend's donuts and pies are available.

 Rogers Family Orchards Inc. located at 260 Co Hwy 131 in Johnstown

Family owned and operated apple orchard including you pick and ready pick apples. Their country store offers local made/grown products.

 Middlefield Orchard located at 2274 State Hwy. 166 in Cooperstown

Middlefield Orchard features dwarf trees that allow for easy picking for both children and adults. No ladder climbing is necessary. The apple harvest includes over 30 apple varieties. They also have a free corn maze, a pumpkin patch hunt, corn stalk teepee and hay fort, and don't forget to meet the 'Hay Family.'

Sharon Orchards located at 583 Chestnut Street in Sharon Springs

Pick your own apples, fresh fruit sales including 20 plus varieties of apples, 5 varieties of pears, and plums throughout the fall season. Fresh sweet cider made on their 115 yr. old cider mill every weekend as well as fresh apple cider donuts. Many varieties of jams and jellies, locally made real maple syrup, and 100% natural apple cider vinegar also available.

Critz Farms located at 3232 Rippleton Road in Cazenovia

They began planting their first apple trees in spring 2005 and had their first harvest in September 2007. It has taken a number of years to establish the orchard, now complete with 1800 dwarf apple trees. The farm grows Cortland, Empire, Macoun, several Macintosh varieties, Gala, and Honey Crisp apples. Each year our production has been increasing as the trees mature and they expect a very good crop this year.

Beak and Skiff located at 2708 Lords Hill Road in LaFayette

Throughout the year they keep a careful watch on their trees that grow over 15 varieties of apples and maintain them with the latest growing techniques via their partnership with Cornell extension. Every winter each one of the 250,000 trees is trimmed by hand. In the spring they bring in over 400 hives of bees to help pollinate their crop.

Abbott Farms located at 3275 Cold Springs Road, Baldwinsville.

The Abbott family history can be traced back to the mid-1700’s in England, where Asa Abbott was a soldier during the Revolutionary War. Generations after him traveled to Albany, Clay, and finally settling on a farm on Hicks Rd in Baldwinsville, NY.

Owen Orchards located at 8174 Grant Avenue, Weedsport

25 varieties of apples are available at Owen Orchards from the middle of August through March. You can wander the orchards at your own pace and pick your favorite apples. All apples are sold by the pound, so you can bring home as many or as few as you like. Best of all, 90% of Owen Orchards U-Pick apples can be picked from ground level!
