What It’s Like To See a Concert at the New Onondaga Lakeview Amphitheater [Photos]
If you missed the Miranda Lambert concert at the brand new Onondaga Lakeview Amphitheater, then you missed an amazing show. One of the biggest take-aways from this concert was how amazing this concert venue truly is. Onondaga County did it right and it will be an amazing space for shows for years to come.
This venue has been in the works since the 1950s. The first piece of steel went up in May of 2015 and it was ready with plenty of time for the Miranda Lambert concert on Thursday, August 3rd, 2015. They say great art takes time, but this masterpiece was built in no time at all.
Let's start with the amazing view you have behind the stage that can be seen from every seat in the house. Behind the bandshell is the beautiful sight of Onondaga Lake. On a beautiful night, as it was the night of the inaugural show, you can see the glimmer of the water and an awesome view of boats anchored just off-shore listening to the music that can be heard for miles. Don't forget that sunset! When the temperature is high, the nice breeze off the lake will make things quite comfortable.
Not only is the view incredible, but the amenities are spectacular. There were plenty of restrooms for people to use with very little wait. The lawn space allows for not only great views, but many people to see a great show for a great price. The food and beverage choices are pretty awesome as well. There are also convenient cup holders in all the seats!
They couldn't have picked a better concert to kick off the new space. Miranda Lambert rocked the stage and put on one of the most incredible shows Syracuse has ever seen. Not only did she play all her hits, but she also did some sick covers including CCR's 'Travelin' Band,' ZZ Top's 'Tush,' and she even got a little help from RaeLynn and one of her guitarists for an amazing rendition of the Dixie Chicks' 'Cowboy Take Me Away.' It will be a tough show to top, but with approximately 20 concerts expected for next year, who knows who will be coming to town.
