Utica College's enrollment is increasing and that means they need more space for students.

In a press release from Utica College that addresses the plan, officials say they are going to add three apartment-style buildings on campus that will have four bedrooms each, two full bathrooms, a kitchen with a dishwasher and a washer and dryer in each unit.

The new buildings will be constructed next to the Todd and Jennifer Hutton Sports and Rec Center.

For the last few years Utica College has rented out space in the Ramada Inn, just up the road from campus, with students having to be shuttled back and forth to classes.

The new buildings are to be built with a cooperation between the Utica Municipal Housing Authority, and Albany-based BBL Construction Services.

UC hopes to break ground on the new residence halls in Spring 2018, with completion scheduled in time for Fall '19 move-in dates.

The new dorms will be reserved for Juniors, Seniors and Grad students.
