Two Red Panda Cubs Born at the Utica Zoo
Meet the newest addition to the Utica Zoo. Two Red Panda cubs who were so small when they were born they fit in the palm of your hand.
You won't be able to see the new cubs for at least 60 days. The time will allow mom, Ming Yue to care for them.
Red Panda mothers spend nearly all their time in their nest area during the first several weeks after birth. Cubs are born with their eyes closed and have no defenses making the first 30 days of life a critical time because that is when most problems can occur.
Dad, on the other hand, has no problems meeting visitors. Especially if they've got food.
Made a new friend at the @UticaZoo today. Congrats on becoming a dad of two little red panda cubs Muse! #WUTR pic.twitter.com/Bbus5BV01T
