Tom Cruise’s Hometown Is Central New York
Did you know that one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors calls Central New York his hometown? Tom Cruise is a native of Syracuse.
I must be living under a rock, and never ever knew that. Are you like me? Tom Cruise was born in Syracuse:
Was born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV in Syracuse, N.Y. on July 3, 1962. His family moved around several times when he was a child, but his birthplace will always tie him to Central New York."
His family did move around a lot, but his siblings were also born in Syracuse.
The former Central New Yorker was baptized Catholic at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Liverpool, and originally planned to become a priest before finding success as an actor. Can you imagine that? Father Cruise?
He attended a Franciscan seminary school at age 14 in Cincinnati, but a classmate says "Tommy" was asked to leave for stealing booze in 1976. But it's there that Cruise reportedly fell in love with acting at the school's drama club, 15 years before his big screen debut in "Endless Love.""
So Tom Cruise was born in Syracuse. That makes him a native to Central New York.
