Tick season is expected to be extreme in 2018 so you're going to want to be as vigilant as possible. Tick Tubes are a simple way to help protect your home and your pets.

Tick Tubes are small cardboard tubes (about the size of a toilet paper roll) that are stuffed with insecticide-soaked cotton.

The idea is to place a few of these around the perimeter of your yard or in any place where mice might travel(think wood piles, rock piles, under your porch).

The mice use the cotton for nests and when ticks that live on the mice come in contact with the insecticides on the cotton they die off before they can get on you or your animals.

There are at least two companies who make Tick Tubes - Damminix and ThermaCELL. Both brands can be found at most retail stores like Walmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot and can also be bought online through websites like Amazon.com.

If you don't want to spend the money, MyFrugalHome.com has a simple and easy way to make them at home for much less money than buying them. All you need is dryer lint, toilet paper tubes and a bottle of Permethrin insect repellent.

Make sure to watch out for ticks this season!
