Going above and beyond is in the first responder nature, but this central New York first responder has a lot on his plate and still manages to serve his community past the responsibilities laid out on paper.

Percy Bryant is not only an EMT with American Medical Response, but also a volunteer firefighter. He was nominated by Kelsey Zimmerman, who said Bryant always goes above and beyond on and off the clock, whether that means shoveling an elderly woman's driveway after a snow storm or waiting an extra hour with a victim until their family arrives so they're never left alone and scared.

Zimmerman said on top of always going the extra mile as an EMT and a firefighter, Bryant makes time for his five children.

Bryant is the embodiment of the first responder spirit, and for his hard work every single day, we'd like to say thank you.

Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers or any other person first on the scene.

Include their name, a picture and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday,' presented by Martin, Harding & Mazzotti.

We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
