Christmas In New York City
There's nothing quite like the Christmas season in New York City. The store windows, the huge Christmas tree and skating rink at Rockefeller Center, and of course FAO Shwarz toy store (remember that from the Tom Hanks movie, "Big"?). Every year, my daughter Lauren travels down to the Big Apple during this time of year and shares with me some great photos.

The Christmas Tree Lighting in Rockefeller Center in New York City is a tradition each year. In fact, a couple of years ago, my daughter was in New York City when they were putting up the tree and sent back some on-the-spot photos of the tree being transported to its standing place in Manhattan. The tree lighting and TV broadcast are this week.

New York City during the Christmas season has quite a feel of holiday excitement. From the huge Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and skaters to the incredible storefront decorations, it's truly unique. And, of course it's even more dramatic at night.

It's now officially the holiday season.  Not only is it the beginning of Hanukkah tonight, but the tree in Rockefeller Center is all ablaze.  The switch was flipped to turn on the lights during a ceremony in New York City last night.   Fifty thousand people came to watch the 78 year tradition.
