Oneida County’s 2025-2030 Agricultural Plan focuses on farmland protection, farmer support, and building a stronger local food economy.

Every year, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office teams up with the Ancient Order of Hibernians – John C. Devereux Division to spread holiday cheer. This year, they delivered 300 turkeys and 5,000 pounds of potatoes to 13 food pantries and organizations in the area.

It appears a brutal, cold, snowy and long winter with some blizzards is in store for New York State residents.

On Wednesday, New York State approved a measure to lower the hourly threshold for farm workers to qualify for overtime pay to 40 hours by 2032.

But Simons, a past president of the Oneida County Farm Bureau, said the policy comes from a misunderstanding the farm community.

"Do I think we're going to hungry in the country? No. But...all the selection you normally see in the grocery store isn't going to be there."
