UPDATED 3:48 -  The all clear has been given in Holland Patent  after the Oneida County Sheriff's Office says a "suspicious" package was found this afternoon on Elm Street.

Sheriff Rob Maciol says State Police X-Ray imaging equipment was used to determine what was inside the package and nothing hazardous or explosive was found.

The area was deemed safe and Elm Street was re-opened to traffic.

The Holland Patent Middle and Elementary School was put under a shelter in place order because of the school's close proximity to the package.

The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious package that was found this afternoon on Elm Street in Holland Patent.

Officials at the Holland Patent Middle School and Elementary School issued shelter in place orders due to the package's proximity to the schools.  A reverse 911 was also initiated to advise residents in the area to stay in their homes until further notice.

The Sheriff's Office is working with the State Police Bomb Disposal unit as a precautionary measure to determine the contents of the package.

Motorists are asked to avoid Elm Street between Route 365 and Ward Street, which is temporarily closed.

The Sheriff's Office will release more details as they become available.
