The biggest football game of the year is the Super Bowl coming up on Sunday February 5th. Some in Central New York may not be able to watch the game on TV due to a possible blackout.

According to Syracuse.com, a standoff between Verizon FiOS and Fox Syracuse owner Bristlecone Broadcasting is the reason the biggest game of the year may be blacked out.

Since a contract expired at midnight on Jan. 1, FiOS subscribers have been blacked out from WSYT Fox 68 (channels 8 SD and 508 HD on FiOS); WNYS My43 (MyNet channels 7 SD and 507 HD); WSYT ZUUS Country channel 465 SD, a nationwide network that broadcasts country music videos; or WNYS GetTV channel 480 SD."

So far FiOS customers in Syracuse have been unable to watch some of the NFL playoff games. Both sides tell syracuse.com they're not pursuing negotiations currently at the time of this article getting published January 10th 2017.
