When I think of my childhood, it's filled with with a LOT of roller skating. I spent a number of birthday parties and Friday nights at the local roller rink and thought I was so cool because I had my very own pair of blades. While it's harder to come by a roller rink nowadays, there's still a couple here in central New York where you can skate to your heart's content and get your fill of nostalgia.

This rink is open Saturdays from 7 to 10 p.m. All open skates cost $7, and they're cash only.

This rink is closed during the summer months, but is opening back up November 9. Saturday matinees will be 1:30 to 4 p.m. and Saturday evenings will be 7:30 to 10 p.m. All open skates cost $8 and they do not accept credit or debit cards.

This rink has a number of open and special skates throughout the week during open season. Find their schedule here. $7 gets you skate rentals, pizza or a hot dog, and a small soda.

If you're thinking of heading out to the rink this season for a date night or an evening teaching the kiddos how to rollerblade backwards, these are three close, affordable options perfect for us central New Yorkers. Hey, who knows. Maybe they'll even throw on your favorite power ballad.
