Riders Stranded High Above Six Flags Park in New York

Guests at Six Flags Great Escape got a little more thrill than they bargained for.

A power outage brought rides to a sudden stop — including the Adirondack Outlaw, one of the park’s most extreme attractions. It features a giant arm that launches riders 164 feet in the air, and plummets back down, spinning in a giant vertical circle, while simultaneously flipping guests head-over-heels at 52 mph.

Sounds fun until it comes to a stop and leaves riders hanging 16 stories high for about half an hour.

Mechanics and first responders got it working again and safely evacuated everyone without injury.

Repeated Power Outages

This isn't the first time power has gone out, stranding guests on rides throughout the park.

People got stuck on the ride—but instead of just sitting there with the arm level, it froze straight up in the air.

Power Restored Quickly

Crews followed standard safety protocols during the latest outage, which included safely escorting guests from select rides.

"The safety of our guests and team members remains our top priority," the park shared in a statement.

The power was quickly restored, and all areas resumed normal operation shortly after the outage.
