One of the biggest events of the Summer for the City of Utica is Saranac Thursdays. It's a place where friends and family can gather to enjoy good times, great beer, and some sweet music. Not many people realize however, that this is not a big money maker for Saranac, but is actually the biggest fund-raiser of the year for the local United Way chapter.

That is why you see all the people pouring beer wearing the "Live United" shirts. The volunteer job of beer pouring is one that is highly sought after. It is a job local companies and community groups battle for each year. Because of these volunteers it is possible for the proceeds that go to benefit United Way to be much higher because the brewery doesn't have to provide paid staff. If you haven't been to a Saranac Thursday yet, I highly recommend it. It really is a great time!
