Reaction to the new rules has been mixed. Some parents believe this is going too far and robbing kids of their opportunity to have fun between classes while others say that with the increase of injury related lawsuits schools have to be extra protective of their students. The fun hasn't completely been taken out of recess.

Soft nerf balls will be provided during recess, and kids can play with hardballs during gym and intramural athletics.
