New Safety Measures Now In Place For New York Snowmobilers
Mother nature has been dishing up plenty of snow and cold so far this winter season. Maybe you're enjoying it because you're a snowmobiler. New York State is trying to make it safer for you this season.
New York state is now limiting the snowmobile trails to only those machines designed to be used on public trails. This law has gone into effect as of January 1st 2018:
The new law will make the minimum fine for using unregistered vehicles $200. That money is earmarked for snowmobile patrols."
According to CNY Central, the mindset on this law is to make it safer for riders. In 2017, over 24 deaths happened relating to snowmobiles and riding. The state is also reminding riders to follow the speed limit of 45mph, and remember when snowmobiling at night that visibility is reduced.
