Trooper Fredenburg's Funeral Closing Roads

New York State Trooper Donald Fredenburg will be laid to rest today. His funeral will close Genesee street between Ballantyne Brae and Proctor Blvd, and Barton Ave. between Genesee St and Sunset Ave from 7 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.. Everyone is advised to use an alternate route.

Fredenburg's funeral will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Genesee Street in Utica at 11am.

Fredenburg collapsed during a training run at the State Police Academy in Albany and later died at the hospital. Autopsy results showed he passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition. He is survived by his wife, Angela; his father, Donald, Sr.; and his mother, Joanne Cowley.

Fredenburg who served as a Marine from 2009 until 2013 and was in his second week of training at the Academy.
