It may be hard to think summer in mid-January.  But if you want to think about the kids taking part in Department of Environmental Conservation summer camps, you better. Registration opens January 25 and camps fill fast.

There are four DEC summer camps for youth 11-17 years old.  They come with a wide range of activities including; fishing, bird watching, fly-tying, archery, canoeing, and orienteering. Kids can even earn educational certificates in Hunter Safety, Bow Education, or Trapper Education. Each camp also teaches environmental lessons and games about the forest, field, and stream ecosystems around camp.

Camps run for one week, Sunday thru Friday, for 7 weeks beginning late June through mid-August.  And if there is an interest in outdoor career there is a special week in July that highlights career opportunities.with the DEC.

Applications are only accepted online.
