The premise behind Atrophy Escape Ward may seem like those of all the popular escape rooms — you have a limited amount of time to find clues and solve puzzles to get out of the room.

If only that were all! It doesn't stop there, though. Joshua Reale, creator of Atrophy and Cayo Industrial Horror Realm, uses all of the attraction’s settings and effects to assault your senses as you navigate Atrophy Escape Ward. Separating itself from a haunted house, Atrophy Escape Ward, located in a warehouse district of Rome, NY, brings you into an alternate reality, a dreamlike adventure, as if you were in your own movie. Is it real? Or all a hallucination?

The frightening walk down the asylum halls, past ghostly patients, to the nurse's office is almost enough to make you turn around. If you're brave enough to stay, the nurse, who will give you the creeps, will tell you when the doctor is ready for you.

You can bring a group of up to six people. You won't be paired with strangers — your survival depends on the friends, family and coworkers you invite so choose wisely! You might get to meet the cast, too, if you purchase the last time slot of the night. The experience is geared toward adults (sorry, kids!) and includes "strobes, flashing lights, scents, startling effects,"  according to the website.

Atrophy takes Covid measures for requiring visitors and actors to wear masks during your experience. Hand sanitizer is available upon entry.
