Police Looking to Identify Suspect Seen Trying to Break Into Car

This is why you should always lock your vehicles, even in your driveway.

The New York State Police from Mayfield are looking to identify the subject in a Ring video who is seen trying to break into a car. The video was taken in the early morning hours on October 8th in the area of Progress Road in Mayfield. Anyone with information is asked to call SP Mayfield (518) 661-5446.

Police are remining citizens to properly secure their vehicles at all time due to an increase in vehicle break-ins and thefts.

Over just the October 3, 2020, weekend the State Police in Brewster investigated ten vehicle break-in incidents and one stolen vehicle. These crimes were committed in the towns of Patterson, Southeast, and Carmel. The majority of the vehicles were left unsecured with valuables still inside in residential neighborhoods.

Please always lock your vehicle, even in your own driveway. Leave all windows including sunroofs closed. Park in well-lit areas. Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running. Never leave valuables or personal identification in a vehicle.
