
Payless Closing More Stores in Central New York
Say goodbye to Payless shoes in central New York. The company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year and announced the closing of 400 stores. 400 more are on the chopping block including several in central New York.
The latest round of closings may affect the Payless shoe store in Sangertown Square Mall. The store is among those "that may be subject to closure pending ongoing negotiations," according to Payless' website. "We remain hopeful these negotiations will be successful and provide us with the ability to avoid additional closures."
The following Payless stores will be closed in central New York:
Shoppingtown Mall Dewitt N.Y.
Northern Lights Shopping Center North Syracuse N.Y.
Great Northern Mall Clay N.Y.
137 State Route 104 Oswego NY

Several stores have closed in central New York recently, including K-Mart in New Hartford, Rue21 in Cortland, The Limited, Wet Seal and Sears. Gander Mountain was set to close in the Orchards Plaza but a new owner plans to reopen.
