Today we remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, which we have come to known as 9/11. For every American, including this one, it was a moment frozen in time. I remember exactly where I was when the news starting pouring in about the attacks on that fateful day. Last summer, my wife and I were in New York City and visited the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero.

It was very emotional for both of us, as we read the names of the thousands of innocent victims and first responders who were killed on the very site where we stood. The 9/11 Memorial is hallowed ground, and the two sunken waterfall reflective pools located where foundations of the World Trade Center Towers were are vivid reminders of that tragic day.

There are walkways, a museum, a new towering office building, as well newly planted trees and grass. While it is a somber setting, you get the a sense of peace as you walk through the site.

If you plan a trip to New York City in the future, make sure you include a visit to the 9/11 Memorial. It will be a visit you will never forget.
