Are you still looking to help out children in Central New York this holiday season? The Utica OD could use your help with Operation Sunshine.

With less than two weeks left, the OD reports the campaign has raised $29,099 toward its goal of $65,000. That leaves it about $35,901 short for helping families in need this year.

“With less than two weeks before Christmas, it’s a little worrisome that we remain so far away from our goal this year,” Observer-Dispatch Opinions Editor Dave Dudajek said. “Hopefully a generous community will rally to the cause and help us get there by Christmas Eve.”

Operation Sunshine provides toys and food for local families with children who are in financial need around the holidays. This year, it received more than 1,500 requests for help. You can place a donation online.
