The New York State Troopers had one heck of a busy week. During the recent Halloween enforcement period, they issued a total of 16,690 tickets.

WPDH reports the special enforcement period began on October 26th and continued until November 1st. So technically that is 6 days worth of tickets. During the campaign, state police utilized sobriety checkpoints, DWI patrols, and ticketed distracted drivers who used handheld electronic devices.

Here's more stats:

Troopers arrested 266 people for DWI and investigated 1,778 accidents, which resulted in 251 people being injured and three fatalities. Speeding and aggressive drivers were also targeted across the state. Here's the a partial breakdown of the total tickets issued.

Speeding - 5,729
Distracted Driving - 448
Seatbelt Violations - 475
Move Over Law - 193

Maybe New Yorker's need to slow down some.
