New York State DOT Closing Ramps for Paving
The New York State Department of Transportation has issued a travel advisory for motorists in Oneida County. Depending on the weather, two ramps near the arterial will be closed to accommodate paving.
The Downtown Ramp to 5S Oriskany Street East and Route 5A Oriskany Street West will be closed to traffic between the hours 9:00 AM through 5:00 PM due to asphalt paving operation on the ramp.
There will be two detours in place to make travel move smoothly.
Route 5S East Detour: Motorists traveling north on Route 12 North wanting to access Route 5S East will be directed to stay on Rte 12 north to I-790 East, take a right on to Genesee Street south, onto Broad Street East, to Route 5S East.
Route 5A West Detour: Motorists traveling North on Route 12 wanting to access Route 5A West will be directed to stay on Route 12 North to Glass Factory Road interchange, then back down on to Route 12 South to Route 5A West Whitesboro.
State DOT officials want to remind motorists that speeding within a work zone can be dangerous for workers. They want to remind people that fines double for speeding in a posted work zone. Multiple violations of speeding in a work zone may result in the suspension of your license.
