NY STAR 2026 Payments: When You’ll Get Yours
STAR Payments Are Already Rolling Out
If you’re a New York homeowner waiting on your STAR property tax relief, good news — the 2026 payments are already going out.
But don’t expect one big statewide mailing day. This is a rolling schedule, which means checks and direct deposits are being sent out over time depending on where you live.
Why Your Neighbor Might Get It Before You
The timing depends on your local school tax due dates.
Areas with earlier deadlines — like New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse — are getting their STAR payments first.

The rest of the state will continue seeing deliveries through the summer and into the fall, so it’s very much a “your turn is coming” situation rather than a one-size-fits-all drop.

How Much Homeowners Are Getting
For most eligible homeowners earning under $500,000, STAR credits are expected to range between $350 and $600.

Seniors who qualify for the Enhanced STAR program — typically with incomes under $110,750 — will see larger benefits, often ranging from $700 up to $1,500.

Want to Know When Yours Is Coming?
If you don’t want to just wait and wonder, New York State has a STAR Property Tax Credit lookup tool that shows when your area’s payments are scheduled to be mailed.
Areas in Clinton, New Hartford, Whitesboro, and Westmoreland should see checks in September. Utica/Rome will have to wait until October.

Once your payment is scheduled, give it about five to ten business days for delivery to actually show up in your mailbox or bank account. It’s not instant, but it is moving — just in waves across the state.
