New York Home to One of the Top Ten Campgrounds in the U.S.
They say opinions are like noses, most of us have one. But these noses belong to campers, and in their opinion, New York's Hudson Valley has one of the top 10 campgrounds in the country.
Schodack Island State Park Campground received the honor in a poll conducted by USA Today newspaper. In fact, the campground came in at #5 on the list compiled by full-time RVers when asked to name the Best RV Park/Campground in the United States.
The state park is on the eastern shore of the Hudson River just south of Albany and features 7 miles of shoreline on the Hudson River and Schodack Creek. In addition to 66 campsites, 8 miles of trails for hiking and biking, plenty of boating opportunities, playgrounds, and picnic areas, it's also well known for a unique Bird Conservation Area. You can glimpse bald eagles, cerulean warblers and blue herons.
