A new competition is coming to the Great New York State Fair this summer and its all about NY State craft beer.

'The Governor's Cup New York State Craft Beer Competition' will pit dozens of craft breweries from across the state against each other in a professionally judged beer competition on July 29.

Medals will be given to the best 3 beers in 20 categories including all major styles of beer like IPA's and Lagers along with specialty brews such as fruit-infused, sour and spiced beer.

The brewer with the beer that scores the highest in all categories will be awarded the newly created 'Governor's Excelsior Cup.'

The competition is open to any craft brewer in New York State, and brewers will be able to enter more than one variety of beer with each entry costing $45.

The Governor's Excelsior Cup and the other award winners will be displayed in the State Fair's Horticulture Building.

All brewers who participate in the all-new 'New York State Craft Beer Competition' will have the chance to offer samples of their beer from a booth near the Horticulture Building.

Brewers will also have the opportunity to host one of the Fair's daily Taste NY Wine and Beer seminars.
