New Hartford Police Investigate Fatal Accident
New Hartford Police are investigating a fatal car-pedestrian accident.
It happened last night at the intersection of Seneca Turnpike and Oakdale Avenue.
The victim has been identified as 46-year old Charles Maier, who had last been living in Bremerton, Washington.
Police say Maier, who was wearing dark clothing, stepped off the curb in front of the Sunoco gas station and into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
At this time, police say it's not known why Maier stepped off the curb.
No tickets have been issued at this time.
