Are your teeth in desperate need of a cleaning? Dentists are getting ready to reopen in New York.

Businesses are preparing to reopen in central New York, including dental offices. My dentist, called to remind me of an appointment I had scheduled for Tuesday, June 2nd, an appointment I had forgotten about. They plan to open Monday, June 1st with a few changes.

Dentists and hygienists wore masks and gloves before COVID-19 when cleaning teeth and that will continue when offices reopen. But patients can't wear a mask when someone is working on their mouth.

Patients need to answer a few questions before heading to their appointment, including if they've had a high temperature, been in contact with a positive COVID-19 patient, traveled in the last 14 days or been diagnosed with the coronavirus. They'll also have to wait in their cars until it's time for their appointment. And fewer patients will be seen at one time.

Not all dental offices will open at the same time so it's best to call your dentist to see if they are open.

Many businesses will open for Phase Two in central New York either Friday, June 29th or Monday, June 1st.

Phase Two:
Professional Services
Retail
Administrative Support
Real Estate / Rental & Leasing

A more detailed list of specific Phase Two businesses should be released later this week and we'll update when it's available.
