Fire At One Adirondack Lodge Prompts Guest Evacuations
Fire crews battled flames at one lodge in the Adirondacks. Here's what we know about this Lake Placid fire.
According to News Channel 13, the fire broke out at the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid around 8PM on Wednesday February 26th:
The call came in at about 8:08 p.m. Fire crews arrived to see flames on the roof. Fire crews tell NewsChannel 13 there were about five firetrucks and 50-60 firefighters on scene. It took crews about 30 – 45 minutes to knock down."
Whiteface immediately acted fast and informed guests that they must spend the night a separate hotel, after concerns about a leaking sprinkler, elevator damage, and safety issues. Staff members were shuttling guests to the Cambria Hotel in Lake Placid. You can watch video of the fire on social media here.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials said no injuries were reported. According to My NBC 5, the fire was mostly contained to the chimney, but a few rooms had minor damage.
