I would like to nominate my cousin Keith Pfendler. He owns an operates a farm on Mohawk Hill that has been in our family for generations. It was owned by his great grandparents, and then his grandparents. Keith's love of farming began while growing up on this farm. He lived there with his grandparents because his parents were tragically killed by a drunk driver when he was only 2 months old. By the time he graduated high school his grandparents, who had been operating a redemption center in the barn for several years, decided it was time for retirement. At that point Keith decided he wanted to buy the farm and open it as his own, 'J & K Pfendler Farms.'

Tragedy struck once again. Prior to Keith reopening the farm, the barn caught fire. The fire destroyed the barn, all of Keith's new equipment and many family heirlooms including a truck that belong to Keith's father. Despite this loss Keith still wanted to be a farmer. So he started over. He rebuilt the barn in a different location on his land. This required running new electrical lines. Sadly, this also didn't go Keith's way. The lines where not installed correctly by the electric company and several cows were harmed because of it.

Regardless of these problems Keith still wanted to be a farmer. Finally the electric is fixed and Keith now has healthy cows. All he has ever wanted is to operated his farm. He finally has that, but its been a long hard journey.

Thank you Keith Pfendler for what you do everyday. We’ll put you in grand prize drawing for a $2500 gift certificate from White's Farm Supply and a phone call from James Wesley, so he can ‘Thank a Farmer.’
