A country star quietly traded the stage lights for early morning woods in upstate New York—and it looked like he fit right in.

It happened at Basswood Lodge, tucked away in Rensselaer Falls.

A post from the lodge showed a group of hunters lined up, smiling after a hunt—and if you look closely, third from the left, you might do a double-take.

That’s none other than Jordan Davis.

Chasing Turkeys in New York

Davis and his crew spent some time Upstate for a “hell of a start to chasing turkeys in New York."

Just goes to show—fame or no fame, turkey season still means early mornings, good company, and a little bit of luck in the New York woods.

Spring Turkey Hunting Season in New York

New York’s spring turkey season runs from May 1 through May 31 statewide, except in New York City and Nassau County.

If you’re heading out, shooting hours are from half an hour before sunrise until noon.

Hunters can take up to two bearded turkeys total for the season, but only one per day. And you’ll need a valid hunting license and turkey permit before you go.

Harvest reporting is mandatory, so anything you take has to be reported.

It’s a busy time for deer hunters in October, especially with archery seasons already underway in many parts of the state and early muzzleloader opportunities kicking in in some areas. There are also waterfowl hunters out along marshes and waterways as migration picks up.

You have to wonder if Davis will be packing the hunting gear again along with the guitar. Upstate NY might just be turning into one of his favorite stops for both music and the outdoors.
