Is It Safe To Eat Icicles

Licking icicles that were hanging off the roof was part of Winter fun, but would you let your kids do it today?

Do you live on a dusty road? Think any of that dirt and grime lands on the roof and then drips down forming an icicle?

Icicles may look tempting to kids, but keep in mind what's been on your roof. Bird poo, dead bugs, and shingles are the ingredients in that giant icicle. Icicles on older houses could contain contaminants like lead.

How about trying to satisfy the kids with a treat out of your freezer?  But, then, on the other hand, my Grandmother and Grandfathers, God rest their soul, ate icicles and lived into their late 90's.
