What was it like to be in Las Vegas during the horrible shooting that took place at the Route 91 Country Music Festival? Ilion native Dave Skramko has lived in Vegas for the last several years and gives us his thoughts on what happened.

Dave was not at the concert when a gunman opened fire on the crowd, and he is safe. Dave says he was at home when the events began to unfold. He, like many other Las Vegas residents turned to police scanners and the news to find out what was happening. "It was intense, that's for sure," Skramko says. "I wasn't at the concert, but I had friends that were as well as friends on the strip when everything happened."

Skramko works for a sister-resort to Mandalay Bay and has friends who work at that resort as well. He talked about the security currently in place at hotels, adding there are no metal detectors, but guests are checked for firearms.

The future of living in Las Vegas isn't a concern for Skramko, but this tragedy could have happened anywhere in the city that has thousands of tourists gathered at any given time.
